Eva Bestelink
PhD Student
Dr Eva Bestelink graduated with a BEng in Electronic Engineering with Nanotechnology at the University of Surrey in 2018 and completed her PhD at Surrey’s Advanced Technology Institute in 2021, under the supervision of Dr Radu Sporea. During her PhD, Eva won a prestigious IET Postgraduate Prize 2021 for Excellence and Innovation in Engineering.
Eva now is employed as a Research Fellow in Thin-Film Devices and Circuits on Dr Sporea’s ALPACA Fellowship. Her research is based on unconventional contact-controlled thin-film transistor architectures, such as the source-gated transistor (SGT) and the recently invented multimodal transistor (MMT), which she co-invented with Dr Sporea during her BEng degree. Her research focuses on exploiting contact effects for performance/circuit optimisation and novel functionality. Eva works alongside many of Dr Sporea’s network of collaborators, developing devices in a variety of material systems (silicon, amorphous oxides, organics, perovskites).
Among her several qualifications, Eva has a MSc in Neuroscience and is interested in nature/neuro inspired solutions, as well as sustainable high-throughput manufacturing in low-cost methods.
Aside from research, Eva likes to return to the sea during Summer months and be found underwater taking pictures of fish.
