TeamSporea PhD student Eva Bestelink has been awarded the prestigious scholarship as part of the IET Postgraduate Research Awards. These awards celebrate excellence and innovation in engineering and are designed to encourage the next generation engineers. Eva presented her vision for enabling low-cost manufacturing of flexible and disposable electronics by using alternative transistors structures, such as the multimodal transistor (MMT), a device which she co-invented with her supervisor, and team leader, Dr Radu Sporea.
As a mature student who underwent a career change, Eva is looking towards investing her £2500 scholarship in strategies that will help her reach out to other mature students, as well as younger generations, particularly children, in the hope to inspire future innovators and engineers.
Eva will be continuing to research the MMT together with other TeamSporea members and external collaborators, focusing on optimization, as well as interfacing with complementary technologies to develop new applications, such as disposable medical sensors.
